Why use Lip Scrub, Nail Strengthener and Eyelash Serum?

During winter, my lips get dry and flaky, my nails get brittle and the skin around them starts peeling… and I swear it seems like my eyelashes fall out at a quicker rate!

Now is the perfect time to get in the habit of using lip scrub, eye lash serum and nail strengthener in your self care routine. Here is a little insight on what we will be making at the January 6, Self Care for the New Year Workshop.

Lip Scrub: Lip scrubs are a combination of an exfoliate and an emollient. Exfoliates in lip scrubs are usually sugar but can also be ingredients such as poppy seeds, ground walnut shells, or other fine, yet gently abrasive materials. The purpose of abrasive ingredients is to gently remove the dead skin that leaves our lips looking like we've been chewing on them all day. Removing the dead skin helps the moisturizer (or emollient) penetrate the skin on our lips to keep them soft and shiny! Common ingredients to serve a moisturizing purpose are mango, coco or shea butters and some use coconut oil. It is best to use lip scrub one to three times per week.

Nail Strengthener/Cuticle Oil:

During the cold months our cuticles are prone to becoming dry, chapped and cracked. In addition to being painful and annoying it can also easily lead to infection. Using a cuticle oil will keep them moisturized and the addition of essential oils will help keep infections at bay. Massaging the cuticle oil into the skin will also stimulate nail growth by increasing the circulation around the nails! Apply about 3 times a week for best results.

Eyelash Serum: Eyelash serum is used to keep lashes stronger and thicker by stimulating the hair follicles to promote growth and keep the lashes in the resting phase for a longer period of time before falling out. It is important that using lash serum becomes routine in order to see results. It generally takes several weeks of application before a noticeable difference is achieved. Most professionals suggest using lash serum 2 to 3 times a day for the first couple weeks and then cutting down to once a day or once every other day for maintenance.

Store bought products like these often contain fragrance and other unnecessary chemicals that may actually do more harm than good. The products we make at this workshop will contain natural ingredients and 100% pure therapeutic grade essential oils.

What are you most looking forward to making and adding to your self care routine in 2020?
